Hypnosis is an excellent way to change psychological patterns because we need to work on the level of the problem – in the unconscious mind. Hypnosis is a naturally occurring, focussed state. Hypnosis happens when the REM state is triggered – the dream state. REM stands for Rapid Eye Movement. We all use self-hypnosis. eg daydreaming, when driving a car …. We use it in ways that create positive expectations and “good feelings” and negative expectations and high anxiety states. Anyone who is worried has been doing self-hypnosis. When we are hypnotized we are able to narrow our scope of awareness and focus on particular areas. The normal 'chatterings' of the conscious mind quieten down and it becomes easier to guide our thoughts in the direction we want.
Hypnosis can also improve health, as the content of our thoughts influences what happens chemically in our bodies. In a calm hypnotic state, the immune system works more effectively as there are no other immediate demands on the system. This calm state can be transferred to our daily lives thus allowing us to handle stress much more effectively.
Hypnosis can use the imagination to solve problems and rehearse success. Good performers are always able to go into trance easily.
Learning how to guide yourself into the hypnotic state provides you with two valuable processes - 1. much needed rest, which reduces stress levels and 2. the chance to change unwanted behaviours or thought patterns
The more that you use constructive hypnosis to create positive expectancy and templates for your future, the happier you will feel day to day.
